Toby is a six-year-old rescue who made his way from the backwoods of Mississippi to the summits of the Pacific Northwest. He hikes, scrambles, skis, and paddleboards, he is happiest in the snow, and he is almost always velcroed to his mom. A few of his favorite things:

October 2019
Toby was born on October 19, 2019 (estimated) and dumped in the backwoods of Mississippi alongside his mom and one sister. They were taken in by Mercer Animal Rescue in Memphis, Tennessee, where Toby's mom and sister were both adopted out before he was.

April 5, 2020
Toby was adopted by Diana and Mike on April 5, 2020 in Chicago. He was completely terrified and hid in his crate during his first few days in his new home. This was his 4th home (that we know of) and thankfully his last.

April 2020–June 2021
Over time and with great amounts of patience, Toby grew in confidence through training, agility, and travel. During his first year in his new home, he traveled to 12 states, visited 7 national parks, and started training consistently in agility.

June 2021
In June 2021, Toby and his parents moved to Washington, where he discovered his love for the mountains. Over the next few years, he summited five 14ers, two volcanoes, and countless more peaks. He also started skiing with his parents in the winter and paddleboarding with them in the summer.

Today
Six years on, he's hiked, scrambled, skied, and paddleboarded across half the country, and he's still usually velcroed to his mom. His next big adventure is coming in October 2026.
